Mr. Ginzburg announced that seven new gas treatment and processing plants had been put in operation in the Ust-Kutsky district recently, with two more expected to come online this year. The Irkutsk Polymer Plant using in-house feedstock (ethane) is one of them. All projects built by Irkutsk Oil Company feature cutting-edge engineering solutions and meet the highest environmental standards. To take one example, the Irkutsk Polymer Plant can boast a closed water usage circuit and enclosed flares.

“INK has been putting a strong emphasis on environmental aspects starting fr om its earliest days, and we keep advancing the environmental culture among our employees and contractors,” said Mr. Ginzburg.

Social responsibility was mentioned by Mr. Ginzburg as another principle of importance to the company. Along these lines, INK is implementing a project of gas infrastructure expansion in Ust-Kut town jointly with the Government of the Irkutsk Region and the regional gas distributor. This will allow some 3,000 households, public facilities, enterprises, and boiler houses to switch from coal to a more environmentally friendly fuel.

In addition, in December last year Ust-Kut started to develop a master plan of the socio-economic development of the area at the initiative of INK. The company was able to organize cooperation of all the large businesses present in the region and representatives of different branches of government – federal ministries, the Government of the Irkutsk Region – who are willing to contribute to the development of the northern subregion.

“We try to make life better in the Irkutsk Region, in the areas wh ere the company operates. We build harmonious relations with our employees, partners, local communities, and indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North. We do what a socially responsible company is supposed to do – and aim higher,” said Mr. Ginzburg by way of conclusion.

Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) is an independent Russian producer of raw hydrocarbons. The company incorporated in 2000 engages in geological study, exploration and development of 53 subsoil blocks in the Irkutsk Region, Krasnoyarsk Region and Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
